Dr. Alice Winters, Director of Hospitals announced the breach this evening:
"At approximately 1400 Luna Colony Time, an alert of a containment breach emptied most of Genetectic's Corporate Headquarters. During that time, a team of corporate terrorists infiltrated the building and the server room, gaining access to sensitive Genetectic information."
"Anyone in Cybersecurity defense will tell you that these events are a matter of if, not when, and that we have been able to stay ahead of major network breaches like this up to this point speaks highly of our Network Security partner, NSI. Our gratitude to them for the rapid identification and mitigation of this breach."
"That said, this event did not come without cost. Several Genetectic personnel have been admitted to the hospital. And the private personal data of millions of patients has been exposed by these terrorists. That said, lethal countermeasures had been disabled to allow the biohazard team safe access, so fortunately, there were no lives lost."
Alice's expression is grim, and a little sad, "It takes a particularly amoral sort of person to steal from a hospital. My personal disappointment, and anger at this attack is difficult for me to express." She looked straight at the camera, "Especially when the act seems so utterly senseless."
She paused for a visible breath, "We are working alongside NSI to offer Identity Monitoring services to those patients affected. We are, of course, upgrading our physical security to ensure the building is not breached like this again, and background check measures are being stepped up to ensure that every employee of Genetectic is worthy of the trust you place in us."
Ian Marin, CTO of NSI stated, "This particular attack was incredibly well-coordinated, it was also very brief. The attackers were out before more than a single round of mitigating programming had been deployed. This likely minimized the data loss, and they didn't have time to leave any malware in their wake. We are able to certify GTT's systems as incredibly secure, even after the breach today, thanks to fast action and NSI's agile security. We do, however, hope Genetectic reconsiders their non-lethal approach to breach containment in the future."
Chairman Michael Nikolaidis of New Geneva voiced their support for the Healthcare Megacorp, "New Geneva has policies in place to protect the victims of these acts of terrorism, and resources to assist in the recovery and retribution that Genetectic deserves after this senseless attack."
