Decision 2492: Lunite Election Polls.
April 1st, 2492, Cocoon Station, Grant Jones
With the historic Elections for Governor of Luna Colony underway, we have a division on the elite society of the Colony.
Anthony Bancroft, heading a conservative approach to his campaign enjoys the support of the elder hierarchy of the Lunite society and corporations. With a successful event that saw his campaign boosted significantly, and the inclusion of paid ads on the NET, not only is everyone who's someone in Luna Colony looking at the election, but it has grasped the attention of everyone in the Sol System.
Wayne Thomas Russell, the newcomer and oftentimes perceived as inexperienced politician, enjoys the approval of newer organizations and younger hierachs who perceived that a more daring, and liberal approach to doing business in Luna Colony and with the Lunite Society as a whole would not only bring more profits, but would definitely improve the outside perception on the colony.
"I think Governor Bancroft has done a wonderful job" says Lucrezia Giancarlo-Borgia, wife to the Borgia Conglomerate CEO, Antonino Borgia. "We have been at the top of the economic and financial game in the Sol System for decades, a cautious approach always pays off in the long run, and as far as what other ruffians outside of the Pearl of the Sol System think of us? It doesn't matter, those are just inconsequential men and women dreaming of our lives". Lucrezia Giancarlo-Borgia has enjoyed a life not only of luxury but of rewards, as both her and her husband have formed a beautiful family conformed of three sons, four daughters, eight grandsons, five granddaughters, and with their first three great-grandchildren on the way. But theirs is not the only opinion circulating around the colony.
"It's time for Bancroft to go, and it's time that we change the way things are done in Luna Colony" says Guillermo Alejandro Espinoza-Del Toro, Director of the groundbreaking holovid trilogy "Secret In The Castle By The Cosmic Ocean" and CEO to the DD studios, Holoworks Studios "Much like Wayne Thomas Russell, I too was born outside Luna Colony, and dreamt of making holovids for the entire Sol System to watch and enjoy, it's conservative and isolationist principles like the ones Bancroft champions that keep Luna isolated and allows it to grow stagnant. Some people have to knock on doors and hope they are let in, people like Wayne Thomas Russell and myself had to bang on doors and damn near kick them down to be heard". Espinoza-Del Toro has been working in the DayDream Industry for about ten years, but it was until he was sponsored by Lunite Industrialists that his work got the exposure that catapulted him forward as one of the best DayDream Directors of our time.
However, and despite the division on Lunite Society, the earliest polls paint a different landscape.
Currently on the lead with 44.5% of the projected votes, incumbent Governor Anthony Bancroft is projected to win if the elections were held today. Right behind him with just over 38% of the preferences, Thomas Wayne Russell would be projected to be defeated under the same circumstances. At this time, however, 17.5% of the eligible voters remain undecided for one or the other.
What are your thoughts on the election? Do you think Anthony Bancroft's platform should continue for another term? Or do you think that Wayne Thomas Russell should be given a chance to shake up the system? Please post your opinions on the comment section below, and remember that the voting is set for Sunday, April 10th!
Grant Jones reporting.
I personally am not impressed with either.
