>Winters: Probably about as well as anyone. We’re both from New Vegas. Whether it’s glitter or gold, it doesn’t matter so long as you shine, right?
>Russell: That’s a relief to hear, Doctor. I'm glad you remember your roots. I was concerned.
>Winters: Governor, with respect, I expect you were not that concerned. Interested maybe. If I aligned with you, I could prove beneficial. But the impact of my absence is minimal really.
>Russell: I.. You could be correct, I would be ok if you’re indifferent. But you can have an impact. I would rather it be a positive one.
>Winters: Well, to clarify, Bancroft’s presence on Asking Alice was a function of being asked to interview both of you by one of my sponsors. Let’s be frank, you didn’t really have a chance at winning, so it wasn’t worth his time to go nose to nose. Separate interviews was the closest I could get to giving you a platform. And setting yours after his gave you the advantage of reacting.
>Russell: I thought the advantage goes to the player that gets the first move?
>Winters: It does, but you are not coming into this game at the first move. You’re not even really a player. You are one powerful piece though. I’d set you at least at a Bishop.
>Russell: I’m not sure how to take that, Doctor. Are you the player then?
>Winters: Hardly. If I said I was a Queen, it would seem a little self-centered, but being in a position of public prominence, with the sort of unrestricted acceptance and access that comes with the industry I am in, I have a great deal of mobility, and can clear a lot of distance very quickly.
>Russell: So who are the players, then?
>Winters: That’s a question you should be asking. I mean, like I said, you would not have won. But you were making enough of a dent that Bancroft would have to offer you a juicy appointment to repair the rift you created. Then.. Poof..this mysterious recording gets released, disgraces Bancroft utterly, and you’re in. Either you knew about it, and you know who you owe, or you did not, and someone will come to collect. What matters to me, is that I do not know who your creditor is. It generates a level of risk that limits my interest in investing.
>Russell: Doctor. I’m in this to make profit for all of us. Just like Bancroft, just using smarter, and more effective methods.
